Kotik, the Little Rascal
... Just then, Kotik decided it was time to check on me.
My black tomcat appeared silently, as only cats can, climbed onto me, rubbed his head against me, lingered for a moment as if expecting attention, and when he realized I wasn't going to stop immediately, he settled down beside my arm.
His presence felt so natural that I let him stay.
I felt his warmth beside me, and his steady breathing added its own rhythm to the music and mine.
Kotik had no interest in Reiki channels, the Gassho mudra, or who I had been speaking with before.
What mattered to him was finding a comfortable spot and staying close to the human who was obviously doing something strange instead of paying attention to him.
After a few minutes, he shifted slightly and remained beside my arm...
Sometimes the most extraordinary creatures do not hide secrets beyond the known world. They simply purr beside us.
Cats have a remarkable way of filling a home with character, quiet companionship, and affection, asking for very little in return. Black cats seem to carry a touch of nocturnal magic.
Especially black tomcats named Kotik, little rulers with big souls who remind us that sometimes the best answers arrive wrapped in a gentle purr.
